 "The Little Church With  A Big Heart"....  These 7 words were used to describe Acme Presbyterian Church during Riegelwood, NC's response to the destruction caused by a devasting tornado in the area.  The church sent representatives to community response meetings.  What could so few do to assist in rebuilding our community?  They soon discovered the power in saying "YES".  We used several Sunday School rooms to house volunteers who would come to the community to help clean up and rebuild.  There were 18 double bunk beds with comfortable mattresses donated by Presbyterians for relief efforts following Hurricane Floyd that were in storage in another town.  Presbyterian churches in the area donated snacks, drinks, paper goods, and money to assist with expenses incurred.  We had homemade goodies when each new crew arrived.  Everyone seemed to enjoy their stay with us, commenting that the bunks were so much more comfortable than cots.  Our church responded to a need - - and received far more than we gave.  Thanks be to God!.  (pictures below)
